80 Students Awarded with Author Visit and Limo Ride to Lunch

Award-Winning authors Jaimie Engle & Christina Farley to promote literacy among students at Keene’s Crossing Elementary School

Melbourne, Florida March 31, 2017: Each year, the Florida Sunshine State list is released to encourage Florida students to read books whose titles they vote on the previous year. The list is separated by reading levels and many schools reward students for completing the books for their grades. Keene’s Crossing Elementary School in Windemere, Florida honors their readers with an incredible party to include limo field trip to lunch, author visits, and free books purchased by the school. What began as a celebration for six students just eight years ago has exploded into a group of 80.

“I am so proud of the student’s dedication and enthusiasm for reading!” shares media specialist Jennifer Drone, the event organizer. “For the first year ever we have a three-way tie for classes with the most participation.”

Jaimie Engle, an award-winning author from Brevard County, has been invited to celebrate the success of the third, fourth, and fifth grade students at Keene’s Crossing Elementary School who have completed reading all fifteen Sunshine State book for this year. Engle will speak with students about Writing from an Author’s Perspective to encourage their love of literacy for years to come.

“It’s an honor to celebrate these amazing kids,” shares Engle. “With the pressures of academics, they have found time to read fifteen books in just a few short months. Rewarding these students’ love for reading by treating them like celebrities is one of the coolest author visits I’ve experienced yet!”

Alongside Engle will be author Christina Farley, whose latest book released by Scholastic Press titled The Princess and the Page will be among the many books she has made available to students.

“I can’t wait for the limo party!” shares Farley, who regularly attends this annual celebration. “It’s such an amazing event.”

The limo ride and author event will take place on Wednesday, April 5th. For more information about Jaimie Engle and her books visit www.theWRITEengle.com. To learn more about Christina Farley and her books visit www.ChristinaFarley.com.

About Christina Farley

It was after teaching and traveling internationally for ten years that Christina decided to write her first book GILDED. From there she wrote two more books in that series- SILVERN and BRAZEN- and then sold THE PRINCESS AND THE PAGE to Andrea Pinkney, her editor at Scholastic Press. Besides writing, she loves traveling, running, playing light sabers with her two Jedi warriors, and eating dark chocolate. She’s slightly obsessed with books. Her next challenge is to visit all the continents, although she’s heard Antarctica is quite cold. And that just might be her greatest challenge.
