Christmas is Coming! But the waiting is Hard! by Karen Whiting

Christmastime ADVENTure Awaits Families in New Book
Christmas is Coming! But Waiting is Hard! Offers Activities and Devotions for the Season

There’s something special about experiencing Christmas through the eyes of a child. When families join together to explore the significance of the Advent and Christmas traditions it’s even more exciting. In her new book-- Christmas is Coming! But Waiting is Hard!: Family Activities and Devotions for Advent (Abingdon Press), Karen Whiting, an award-winning author and respected voice for Christian families, offers a new way to celebrate the Christ in Christmas and have a grand ADVENTure.

“Christmastime is a time of joy, waiting, and preparing our hearts for God’s love. I wanted to encourage families to discover the meaning of the wreaths, candles, evergreens, and other Christmas symbols so that together they can discover the real joy of the season,” says Whiting.

Christmas is Coming! But Waiting is Hard! enables families to engage in an intentional and more meaningful preparation for Christmas with family devotions that focus on connecting Jesus and a symbol of Christmas, along with Scriptures that relate to the Advent wreath and the meaning and virtue associated with each candle. Each day includes: prayer, discussion questions, explanation of a Christmas symbol, song recommendations, suggested activities to put the Scriptures into action, and reproducibles to help with the symbol activities. Parents will also find a few chat prompts paired with each devotion to encourage dialogue with their kids during their Advent journey.
