GUEST SPEAKER:  Emily Krupin, Assistant Editor from Harlequin
Program:  “Queries and Pitches: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly”
Bonus: Pitch Sessions Following Presentation

How do you grab an editor’s or agent’s attention with a query letter or pitch?  What makes them request a full manuscript versus send you a form rejection letter?  Worse, what makes them scream and tear their hair out?  This month’s speaker will address these questions as well as discuss print and e-book imprints at Harlequin that are open to unagented submissions in the mystery, suspense, and thriller genres. As a bonus, Ms. Krupin will take pitches following her presentation.

Emily Krupin is the Assistant Editor for Harlequin Romantic Suspense, which justifies her fascination with serial killer stories and other startling scenarios. She works on several lines at Harlequin, from historical to Christian romances, but her home line is the perfect balance of suspense and romance. After graduating from Sarah Lawrence College she edited higher education textbooks, which may or may not have contributed to her enthusiastic jump to the thriller genre. Outside of work you can usually find her at the local bookstore, stalking a stranger’s adorable dog on the street, or trying out a new recipe. Follow her on Twitter @EmilyKrupin.

**In order to give a five or ten minute pitch (time to be determined), you must have a completed book-length work of fiction. To be added to the list, send an email to Vicki Landis at with “Editor Pitch” in the Subject line and your full name in the body of the message.
