Neurotic November by Barbara Levenson

Longtime Miami Criminal Court  Judge Turns to a Life of Crime Writing, Releases New Mystery:
Neurotic November by Barbara Levenson set for November release

MIAMI, Florida – Longtime Miami Judge Barbara Levenson will celebrate the release of her newest mystery, Neurotic November in November.  The latest release in Levenson’s acclaimed Miami murder mystery series, Neurotic November will be released in trade paper and eBook editions in November.

An irresistible, sensationally suspenseful and supremely spicy new mystery by Levenson, a judge-turned-author hailed as “John Grisham in spiked heels,” Neurotic November features half Jewish, half Southern Baptist criminal defense attorney Mary Magruder Katz.

About Neurotic November:  A Miami November should be beautiful, but Mary Magruder finds anything but sunny circumstances when she heads back to her South Florida home base.  Her law practice is in shambles, and there is trouble way too close to home.  While her father recuperates from open heart surgery, Mary’s mother is resisting a return to her boring retirement community.  Could her mother have worse timing for a midlife crisis? At least Carlos is back in Mary’s heart—and her bed.

The first potential client to walk through Mary’s door is Jay Lincoln, a University of Miami quarterback accused of raping an underage girl. His trial is set in a few weeks, and the University recommended that he hire Franklin Fieldstone, Mary’s former fiancĂ© and boss.  Jay despises Frank and hires Mary for his defense. But Frank wants to co-counsel with Mary—and not surprisingly, Carlos is furious. Seems the mere mention of Frank is enough to make the sexy, hot-blooded Carlos’s blood boil.

Cold harsh reality, however, may cast a chill on Carlos when his father J.C. Martin, the Vice President of Seaside Bank, is a step away from being indicted for money laundering.  It’s up to Mary—and only Mary—to unravel this nasty financial debacle.

Even Catherine, Mary’s longtime, top-notch and trusty assistant, is off-kilter—showing up late for work and unfocused at the time when Mary needs her most. But when Catherine shows up with a black eye and bruises, Mary realizes she’s dealing with something a lot more serious than poor work performance. Turns out that Catherine’s ex-spouse is back in the picture begging for Catherine to take him back. But there’s no chance of reconciliation when the ex-husband turns up dead.

Rape, bank fraud, a Magruder Katz family meltdown…and murder. November is certainly going to be a full month for Mary Magruder Katz. Will she or won’t she have anything to be thankful for this month?  Looks like this November may be more about misgivings than Thanksgivings…
