Monique Demery to speak at Delray Beach Public Library

Author Monique Brinson Demery will be speaking at the Delray Beach Public Library on Wednesday, April 16 at 2pm about her book, Finding the Dragon Lady: The Mystery of Madame Nhu.  This true life detective story is about the author's search for Madame Nhu, a woman David Halberstam described as “the beautiful but diabolic sex dictatress,” and Malcolm Browne called “the most dangerous enemy a man can have.” By 1987, the once-glamorous celebrity had retreated into anonymity, exile and seclusion, until Monique Demery tracked her down in Paris thirty years later.

Finding the Dragon Lady is the first full history of Madame Nhu, a woman who was feared and fantasized over in her time, and who singlehandedly frustrated the government of one of the world’s superpowers.  The Chicago Tribune's Printers Row Journal named Finding the Dragon Lady Noteworthy Book of 2103, calling it "a fascinating portrait of this polarizing figure."
