My Pathway to Paradise by Shirley Zillig

Shirley Zillig, author of  My Pathway to Paradise  will be at the Meet the Authors' Book Fair in the Eau Gallie Civic Center this weekend in Melbourne Florida.

Her book is an autobiography. She's been on a Pathway to Paradise all of her life. Raised during the great depression, she never let hardship stand in her way. She became a professional dancer at the tender age of eleven. During World War II, she met and married the man of her dreams, Robert Zillig. Together they formed a partnership in love, life, and in business.

They shared an entrepreneurial spirit, from starting businesses delivering eggs to making homemade bleach. When Bob came up with a quick disconnect gadget in their basement office in 1963, Shirley worked alongside him to launch Jiffy-tite. The company grew and today produces over 165,000 parts a day.

Through the years, they shared a passion for cars, sailing, and motor homing. When she took up flying at the age of 50 and started racing airplanes with their daughter, Bonnie, Bob willingly supported her habit. They shared 64 years of laughter as well as tears, but she always enjoyed the journey.

Silent Auction to Benefit the Flagler county Education Foundation -- Stuff Bus

OCEAN BOOKS & ART SUPPORTS “STUFF BUS”

FLAGLER BEACH, FL Ocean Books and Art launches its newest art show “Holidays in Flagler” with a silent auction to benefit the Flagler County Education Foundation. The opening of the month long show is Friday, December 6th from 5:30 to 8:30 pm at 200 S. Oceanshore Boulevard in Flagler Beach.

The gallery’s artists have selected specific pieces of their work for the silent auction, with each having a reserve price above which bids will be accepted. The silent auction will conclude at 8:00 pm and winning bids will be announced at 8:30. Bidders do not have to be present to win.

Gallery owner Frank Gromling wanted the December art show to benefit a local charity during the holiday season. Photographic artist Ed Siarkowicz and wood sculptor Tim Murphy volunteered to search for an appropriate charity and arrange the affair. They selected the Flagler County Education Foundation because of its successful programs to help the county’s school children.

The Foundation’s well-known “STUFF Bus” project will be an active part of the art opening on the 6th.  Anyone wanting to make donations of new items, such as, crayons, pens/pencils, notebooks, paper, crayons, colored pencils, scissors, tennis shoes, underwear, socks, and toiletry items, may bring them to the bus parked outside the gallery during the opening event.

Deborah Williams, executive director of the Flagler County Education Foundation, said , “We’re delighted when businesses and individuals include us in their events. Of course, we love the donations, but more importantly it’s a time to make new friends. We hope people will stop by, hop on board the bus and talk to our extraordinary volunteers Pat Bueltman and Scott Combs.”

Flagler Beach’s First Friday “Holiday at the Beach” is also on December 6th, with a variety of fun events for the entire family on Veterans Park, just 200 feet from Ocean Books and Art. The gallery’s “Holidays in Flagler” art opening reception is from 5:30 to 8:30 pm and the art show will continue through December 31st.
