Florida Writers Association announces spring conference

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, FL -- Writers will be helping other writers when the Spring Florida Writers Association Mini-conference gets underway at 8 a.m. Saturday, April 20.

The keynote speaker is Adrian Fogelin, author of seven novels for middle-grade and young adult readers. She wrote the hugely popular "Crossing Jordan" and has won numerous awards, including two Florida Book Award gold medals.

Victor DiGenti, television producer turned author, will present an all-day workshop on crime-writing. He is author of "Bring Down The Furies," a crime novel set in Allendale near St. Petersburg. He is the author of four other books.

”The spring conference is an organic thing," said Chris Coward, vice president of the Florida Writers Association.  "The workshops and agent interviews are the bones. We have a stellar lineup of each."

"The heart and FWA’s mindset, in all we do, is writers helping writers,” she added.

A prominent feature of the conference will interviews between authors and prospective agents. Interviews with agents cost $25 if booked before April 1, $40 if booked on or after April 1.

The Florida Writers Association will conduct its 12th annual conference Oct. 18-20, 2013 at the Orlando Lake Mary Marriott in Lake Mary. Crime writer and Pulitzer Prize winner Edna Buchannan will be there, along with a stellar faculty. Bestselling romantic-suspense author Mary Burton will be the keynote speaker.
