Marshall
Frank's novel, The Upside To Murder has
just been released by Aberdeen Bay Press,
This is his
eleventh published book, and his sixth suspense novel. This story blends many
true events, characters, trials and tribulations experienced during his
tenure in homicide and CSI with Miami-Dade P.D.
After 16
year-old Cassandra is gang-raped, shot and left for dead, her father, Dr.
Orville T. Madison embarks on a stealth campaign to protect his daughter from
reliving the terrifying ordeal through the justice system. His obsessive
pursuit drives the Miami physician into a spiral of anguish as he desperately
tries to resolve inexplicable conflicts between love of child and love of God.
A gut-wrenching drama pitting good versus evil which brings out the worst in
the best of people.
Reviewers have made great comments about Frank's latest book...
Former Miami-Dade Detective Division Captain, Marshall Frank takes us on
a rough ride down Miami’s mean streets. The theme “the road to hell is paved
with good intentions” takes on new meaning as the exploits of the highly
respected and religious physician, Dr. Orville T. Madison, take unexpected
turns in his plight to relieve his brutally raped teenage daughter of her
inevitable day in court against the perpetrators. Both she and her boyfriend
are shot at the time of the assault and Dr. Madison intently goes after the
guilty parties. His motive is not revenge but for love of his daughter.
Veteran Detective Raymond Blocker initiates the investigation only to
discover that two of the apparent killers have disappeared and he must find out
why. This will be Detective Blockers last case as he is also plagued by
internal friction within the police department which could derail the solving
of the crimes.
Marshall Frank knows murder for its complexity and surprises. Only a
veteran homicide detective can communicate this fast paced tale to the reader.

Examiner, Florida District 19
Marshall
Frank has, once again, penned a suspenseful, gripping story filled with real
people dealing with real dilemmas of life: separation, pain, loss and
grief. The reactions of his characters to these dilemmas drive the
story. When Dr. Orville T. Madison’s daughter is raped, impregnated and
shot and her boyfriend killed, he is confronted by extraordinary inner
conflict. His choices force him into foreign roles and a collision course
with Detective Sergeant Ray Blocker who is determined to capture the rapists
and killers only to find himself one step behind Dr. Madison. Sergeant Blocker is unusual in the homicide
detective world, enjoying fine wine, classical music and indifferent to the
political ambitions of his bosses. On the cusp of retirement, Sgt.
Blocker feels free to behave, perhaps, a bit recklessly.
Marshall Frank has woven together these two proven performers - Orville
Madison and Ray Blocker - yet only one can prevail. The story unfolds
quickly with many a twist and turn. This book is hard to put down.

Attorney, Former Homicide Detective
It's hard to read just a few pages of The
Upside of Murder without a compelling curiosity to want more. When
teenaged Cassie is brutally gang raped, her father's passion to
spare her the injustices of a broken court system overpowers him.
Combine this with his strong pro-life
religious beliefs and Dr. Orville Madison finds himself entangled
in emotional conflicts to do what is right in the eyes of God, what is best for his daughter, and of taking the law
into his own hands. Marshall Frank has, once again, proven himself a
master at suspense with a novel that weaves a twisted crime story around
our most basic human instincts, emotions, and
needs. This story is a thumbs up.
