Palm Bay, FL – Local
indie author and pop culture expert Melanie Karsak will be presenting a lecture
and book signing for her new novel The Harvesting at The Knowledge Exchange
on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at 2:00 p.m.
The
lecture titled “Why Zombies? Exploring what the zombie trend tells us about
society” will discuss the topic of the Zombie Apocalypse and will explore how
zombies have come to serve as a symbol of the deep feeling of malaise in modern
society.
Karsak will also be signing
her novel entitled The Harvesting, the first in a trilogy of novels
about the Zombie Apocalypse wherein the protagonist, Layla, a
champion fencer and Smithsonian historian, helps her friends and family survive
the undead apocalypse. Karsak also writes a blog discussing zombies and other trends in pop
culture: melaniekarsak.blogspot.com.
Admission
to the lecture is free, and books and other merchandise will be available for
purchase. Note that some zombie images will be shown which might not be
appropriate for some audiences.
