Notes from Lou

Are you taking a vacation this summer.  Maybe instead of a vacation, you'd like to attend a writers' conference.  Here's a list of some of the ones going on this summer around the country.

JULY 2012:

July 11-14, 2012 - Thrillerfest & Craftfest – International Thriller Writers annual conference, New York, NY.

This year's Thrillmaster is Jack Higgins... He's one of the most popular thriller writers around.  He'll be at the conference.
July 7-13, 2012 - Antioch Writers’ Workshop, Yellow Springs, Ohio.

This conference is for all writers of all levels and areas of interest.  Something for everyone.
July 12-15, 2012 - Public Safety Writers Conference, Las Vegas NV. Open to those writing fiction or nonfiction about or for any public safety field. Conference speakers include a coroner, fire fighters, police officers, and others in the writing field.

Have you heard of this one before?  I hadn't. It used to be called the Police Writer's Association. It is open to all and many mystery writers belong to it. It's a great source of research information for those writing novels that include points about public safety or law enforcement.

July 19-22, 2012 – Book Passage Mystery Writers Conference, Corte Madera, CA.

This is also for accomplished as well as new writers.   Don Winslow is the keynote speaker this year and the event covers a variety of topics to help mystery writers.

July 22-27, 2012 - Napa Valley Writers’ Conference -

This conference must be a good one. It's been around for 32 years. It covers all areas of writing from novels to poetry.

July 25-28, 2012 - Romance Writers of America Annual Conference, Anaheim, California.
This conference is the biggee if you're a romance writer. Check it out and all it has to offer.

AUGUST 2012:

Aug. 3-5, 2012 – UNF Writers Conference – University of North Florida, Florida Writers Association,
This year's UNF Writers Conference embraces the art of rewriting by focusing on critiques.
Aug. 19-22, 2012 – Pacific Northwest Writers Association summer conference, Bellevue, Washington,

Aug. 23-26 – Killer Nashville conference, Nashville, Tennessee, A Conference for Thriller, Suspense, Mystery Writers & Literature Lovers:
