Florida Tech's Library is participating in the National Novel Writing Month write-in and read-in. The library will host a reception from 5–7 p.m. on Thursday, November 10th so that perspective writers will have a chance to meet together. Everyone is welcome to attend.
The reception will
feature readings by members of the Florida Tech community. Local writers who are part
of the FIT community will read. People from outside FIT are welcome to attend to
write, listen, and socialize, though the readers are already set. Here's
the gist from the organizing librarian, Rebecca Webber:
Veronica Giguere will read from World Divided: Book Two of the Secret
World Chronicle, by Mercedes Lackey, with Cody Martin, Dennis Lee, and
Veronica Giguere--this is a Sci-Fi novel and a braided novel where a
variety of authors contribute to the work. Veronica will also be
talking about the process of writing a book like this and working on
bringing it to an audience of listeners through podcasting. (Andy and
Bob both have class until 6 P.M.--so Veronica will fill the time. )
Robert Shearer will read from the Beethoven Years and will talk about what inspired him to write this book.
Andy Stanfield will read from The Battle of Rattler’s Bluff--If I
remember right it's a combo of SCI-FI and Western. Andy has a master's
in creative writing and will be talking about his inspirations too.
Evans Library will host a "Write in" during National Novel Writing
Month. Aspiring novelists will be challenged to complete a novel during
the month of November. Evans Library will provide the space for this
endeavor. Writers are free to come in during library hours and work on
