MELBOURNE—The Space Coast Writers’ Guild will offer a second summer four-session class in August to assist adults to write their life’s story.
Linda Jump, author of From Memories to Memoir Using the Jump Start Method, will lead the class at the Fountains of Melbourne at 4451 Stack Blvd. Classes are from 9 to 11 a.m. Mondays and Wednesdays on August 8, 10, 15 and 17 in the Community Room. Cost is $40 for all classes, packets with handouts and materials needed, as well as beverages.
Classes are planned to be sequential, with writing assignments to be read and shared each class.
“These classes will provide the tools needed to begin and finish your life’s story. That is the greatest heirloom you can leave your descendants, and the major cost is your time and memories,” Jump said.
Jump is a former newspaper reporter and photographer, most recently for Florida Today. She is the author of three published books and numerous magazine articles. She co-facilitates an ongoing Writing Your Life class through the Shepherd’s Center of South Brevard and has led numerous writing workshops nationally.
Attendees will receive tips to get started, overcome any writer’s blocks, and to improve their writing. Several hands-on writing practices are planned, including writing a six-word memoir, creating life timelines and practice in re-writing their first sentences to create more compelling beginnings.
For information or to receive a registration form, call Jump at 321-952-7422 or e-mail her at email@example.com. Walk-in students are also welcome.
