Valerie Allen’s workshop: Writing for Children: Take Aim and Focus Your Books for Children will focus on techniques for writing successful children’s books. Learn how to target your audience and understand the needs of young readers. Discuss the categories of children’s books and story types. Practice writing skills and vocabulary specific to youthful readers to create a satisfying and successful book.

Valerie Allen, child psychologist and author, has published a children’s book, Summer School for Smarties, for grades three through six. She is the author of another forthcoming children’s book, Bad Hair, Good Hat, Best Friends. She is also the author of two novels, Suffer the Little Children and Sins of the Father. She presents a variety of writers’ workshops based on her book, Write, Publish, Sell! Quick, Easy, Inexpensive Ideas for the Marketing Challenged. She is a member of Authors for Authors (www.AuthorsforAuthors.com), the Space Coast Writers Guild (www.SCWG.org), and the National League of American PEN Women, Cape Canaveral Branch (www.CanaveralPenWomen.org).
