On the first Saturday of every month (second Saturday on holiday weekends), I hold a workshop that helps writers come up with topics they may not have otherwise thought to write about. The next First Saturday Writing Workshop is Saturday, July 9th from 9:00 a.m. until noon.

I bring in a variety of prompts--mostly verbal, sometimes musical, objects, photographs, whatever I can think of and then give the group five to fifteen minutes to get started writing a memory related to the prompt.

By design, most participants do not have time to complete their response to the prompt, so they go home at the end of the morning with ten to fifteen beginnings of stories that can be finished later. It's a great way to get started and tap into long-forgotten memories.

Space is limited to the first twenty people to register and pay for the class. Fee for the First Saturday Writing workshops is $15 if paid seven days on or before the day of the workshop and $25 afterwards. You can register and pay online or mail a check payable to Writing Your Life to P. O. Box 541527, Orlando, FL 32854.

Workshop held in the Magnolia Room at Marks Street Recreational Center, 99 E. Marks Street, Orlando, Florida where parking is never a problem.
