The Heroine's Journey in Literature by Donna Meredith

To celebrate women's history month, author Donna Meredith will present "The Heroine's Journey in Literature," a look at how we got from Elizabeth Bennett to Lizbeth Salander. The presentation will be at the following dates and locations:

March 2, noon, Thomas County Library in Thomasville, GA
March 5, 1-3 p.m. Jackson County Library in Marianna, FL
March 25, 2:30 p.m. Westminster Oaks in Tallahassee, FL
March 26, 11-12 noon. Havana Public Library, Havana, FL
March 27, 2 p.m. Columbia County Library in Lake City, FL
March 29, 7-8 p.m. Roddenbery Memorial Library in Cairo, GA

She will also sign her novel, "The Glass Madonna" at these events. The novel intertwines the stories of three generations of glassmakers with the personal journey of Sarah Stevens, whose dream of becoming a glassmaker is blocked because the job is still traditionally reserved for males in the '70s. Themes of virginity, spouse abuse, and changing female roles are explored.
