Insider Secrets Draw Members to October Florida Writers Association Conference

— Workshops include Q&A with agents and publishers —

Connecting with agents and publishers and asking them questions about the publishing industry, that’s what the Florida Writers Association (FWA) conference provides this October. The FWA is a nonprofit statewide professional organization, and its ninth annual conference will be held October 22-24, 2010, at the Orlando Marriott Lake Mary in central Florida.

“The conference is intended to help our members hone their craft and network with the people who shape the publishing industry,” said Chrissy Jackson, President of the FWA.

Seminars include an agent-publisher Q&A panel, as well as workshops covering topics geared toward providing the tools for attendees to become published. “Go for the Gold,” is the theme and that is exactly the level of workshops FWA provides.

“The agent-publisher Q&A panel is one of the most popular sessions,” Ms. Jackson said, “We made sure our faculty covers the difficult aspects on the path of publication during their workshops.”

Other conference activities include networking sessions, professional exhibits, and book sales and signings at the FWA bookstore. For a small additional fee, attendees may also book private interviews with agents, publishers, and coaches.

During Saturday night’s banquet, warfare biographer, Carlos D’Este, will present the keynote speech, and the 2010 Royal Palm Literary Awards will be presented. Sunday morning will feature additional workshops and a closing keynote address.

Throughout the conference, attendees are eligible to win door prizes, some worth up to $300. Another huge hit is the opportunity to bid at the Silent Auction, which is run by the Florida Writers Foundation. The proceeds are used by the Foundation to promote literacy among children, youth, and adults throughout Florida. If interested in donating items to the Silent Auction, please contact the FWA 2010 Conference Director, Janet Marie Bill, at
