Oceanview Publishing releases The Test by Patricia Gussin

Oceanview Publishing announces the forthcoming release of The Test by Patricia Gussin. The Test will be available wherever fine books are sold on October 5, 2009.

Gussin, nominee for the Thriller Award for “Best First Novel,” and author of such acclaimed books as Shadow of Death and Twisted Justice, delivers a rich and suspenseful saga about the complexity of family relationships, the corrupting power of wealth, and the danger of good intentions in The Test.

In The Test (Oceanview Publishing, ISBN: 978-1-933515-19-9, Hardcover, Suspense, $24.95) Gussin, whom the Lansing State Journal says “skillfully handles a complex plot with amazing dexterity,” introduces the Parnell family, an incredibly complicated, fabulously wealthy, and extraordinarily dysfunctional family.

Patriarch Paul Parnell, a renowned philanthropist and billionaire, had reached the pinnacle of monetary success, but not without cost. As he faced the end of his life, Paul took time to reflect on his triumphs, his perceived failures, and wondered: had he put too much emphasis on work, and spent too little time with his family?

Determined to leave something far more valuable than money to his six children, Paul left behind a most unusual last will and testament. This unorthodox will, which stipulated that the lion’s share of Paul’s two billion dollar estate be divided among the heirs who pass “the test,” was Paul’s last hope of creating a lasting legacy. Paul Parnell had only the best of intentions—inspiring his children to give back to society and embrace a code of moral values—but could his good intentions mean the worst of consequences for his beloved family?

The six children—Rory, Frank, Dan, Monica, Carla, and Ashley—have only one year to make a difference. But what a difference one year will make. As the story unfolds, these six siblings will be tested in every way imaginable. When lives unravel, and a dangerous outsider threatens to fracture this fragile family, what was meant to bring them together may only succeed in tearing them apart. With a vast fortune at stake, evil in their midst, and time running out, they’ll be forced to face their personal demons, and the incredibly evil influence that could claim one of their own. In the end, this test may be much more than a matter of pass or fail. This test could be a matter of life—or death.

Susan Greger, Publisher at Oceanview, commented, “We are thrilled to announce the release of Patricia Gussin’s third novel, The Test. A seamless, sensational, and suspenseful story about family, value, and choices, The Test is an exquisite tale of one family fractured by the very thing meant to bring them together.”
