Book Festival and Micah’s Place Partner for Savory Southern Breakfast Event

The Amelia Island Book Festival has added a breakfast event to its annual book festival and will partner with Micah’s Place, Nassau County’s only certified domestic violence center. Two popular novelists, Janis Owens and Cassandra King, will be the featured speakers at the 8 a.m. February 13, 2010 breakfast event at the Fernandina Women’s Club.

“This February’s Festival has an incredible selection of best-selling authors. Cassandra King and Janis Owens are best friends and dedicated to women’s issues, what better marriage then to partner with Micah’s Place”, said Dickie Anderson, festival executive director.

Micah’s Place Auxiliary has produced a cookbook, Savory Place, Culinary Favorites of Amelia Island that will be available for sale in late November. The cookbook will help generate revenue to support the many programs Micah’s Place offers. Marie Smith, president of Micah’s Place Auxiliary, said, “What a perfect event to sell our cookbook and bring our supporters together to enjoy a good old fashioned southern breakfast, raise money for our shelter and listen to two inspiring authors.”

Breakfast tickets are $30 each and are available at The Purple Dove, Books Plus and the Golf Club of Amelia. For cookbook or breakfast ticket information go to www.asavoryplace.com.

The Amelia Island Book Festival, scheduled for February 12 – 14, 2010, will offer a full schedule of events, including a Writers’ Workshop, Authors In Schools Program, Friday night concert, a free all-day Readers’ Festival and its popular Lunch With Authors.
