Today....Cocoa Beach Then and NowCocoa Beach welcomes millions of visitors every year, but the city has always managed to keep a small town atmosphere. In 1940, it was a cozy little waterfront town with less than 50 people. A few years after World War II, America’s space race began, and the city was never the same. Author Wade Arnold compares pictures of Cocoa Beach’s past to photos taken today. Many of the vintage photos have never been published before and come from private collections.
Wade Arnold writes for Florida Today, where his column “On the Town” reaches more than 80,000 readers a week. Arnold is a member of the Florida Historical Society and his writing and photography have also been featured in many other publications.
